Academic Affairs @ UTSA

Academic Affairs is at the center of our university — advancing a high quality experience for UTSA students, both in and out of the classroom. Our focus is on the success of our students, supporting their academic path to graduation and preparing them for what is next  – the critical first job in a rewarding career, further study in graduate school, or strengthening our community through public service – to name only a few!

As a pre-eminent Hispanic Serving Institution, UTSA has a special role in championing the advancement of Hispanic students — the future prosperity of our region, state and nation depends on their academic success. Academic Affairs works with diverse university and community partners to increase access to higher education, support degree completion and enable the bright futures of our Hispanic students and all students.

UTSA is at the forefront of knowledge generation - as a leading research university, our faculty are achieving at the top in their fields. Some are developing new cybersecurity technologies or improving educational practice. Others are creating new works of art or music. In this exciting environment of discovery, our students are learning this new knowledge from our excellent faculty today – where for others it appears in tomorrow’s textbooks.

Working with faculty and university leadership, Academic Affairs guides our university toward achieving President Eighmy’s exciting vision for UTSA as an inclusive, urban-serving discovery enterprise — a research university driving bold futures!

Welcome

Kimberly Andrews Espy, Ph.D.

Welcome to Academic Affairs at UTSA! It is an honor and privilege to serve as your Provost during this very exciting time in our history.

I serve UTSA for many of the same reasons our students chose to study here: to belong to a thriving, diverse community of learners and scholars at an incredible research university and acclaimed Hispanic Serving Institution with an ambitious vision to make an even greater impact – engaged with San Antonio and larger region, in service to our state, and providing benefit to our nation and world.

Academic Affairs plays a central role in the mission and vision of UTSA. At the heart is our firm commitment to our diverse students to provide a world-class education and high impact learning experiences that well prepare them for their future careers, and to enable our distinguished faculty to create new knowledge, foster innovation to drive vibrant economic development, and contribute positively to the social environment in which we live. As Provost, in collaboration with our academic leadership, I stand ready to support our students and faculty to realize their goals.

UTSA is a proud member university of the University of Texas system, known world-wide for its quality and impact. As a Top 25 Rising Young University (Nature Index, 2019), UTSA is on the move — I encourage you to check out our outstanding academic programs, learn more about our world-class faculty, and engage our diverse students. Join us on the journey ahead.
