Course Description
Participants will be introduced to applications included in Adobe Creative Cloud, a tool that is free for all UTSA students. Attendees will be able to complete short projects that will give them the opportunity to produce artifacts that they can use to improve their digital literacy skills and prepare them for their life after they finish their UTSA journey.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to edit an Adobe Portfolio
- Acquire the ability to create online content
- Recognize the impact of an online portfolio
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of photography
- Acquire the ability to edit photos in Photoshop
- Recognize the impact of image correction on course work and self-promotion
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator
- Acquire the ability to work with vector graphics
- Recognize the impact of logos on self-promotion
- Demonstrate the ability to edit In Express Video
- Acquire the ability to translate complex ideas into simple videos
- Recognize the impact of video on training
- Demonstrate the ability to create an Express Page
- Acquire the ability to create visually stimulating presentations
- Recognize the impact of images on presentations
- Demonstrate the ability to create an Express Post
- Acquire the ability to create visually stimulating infographics
- Recognize the impact of images on data
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of resolutions
- Acquire the ability to properly size images in Photoshop or Illustrator
- Recognize the impact of importance of image clarity in print
- Demonstrate the ability to edit in Premiere Rush
- Acquire the ability to create content for YouTube
- Recognize the impact of video on self-promotion
Course Format
Each Institute will consist of eight 45-minute sessions. Participants may attend the sessions synchronously on Zoom or asynchronously on Panopto.
Course Calendar
- The October Session will meet Mondays through Thursdays - 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. - from 10/17/2022 through 10/27/2022. All sessions (8 total) will last 45 minutes. Participants may attend the sessions synchronously on Zoom or asynchronously on Panopto.
- The November Session will meet Mondays through Thursdays - 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. - from 11/7/2022 through 11/17/2022. All sessions (8 total) will last 45 minutes. Participants may attend the sessions synchronously on Zoom or asynchronously on Panopto.
Time Commitment and Course Completion Requirements
The time commitment for this course is estimated to be 40-50 hours, but largely depends on previous skills level and exposure to Adobe tools.
To receive the certificate of completion and the one-time incentive, participants must complete the following by the Monday after the final training session.
- Attend/review lectures,
- meet the guidelines provided for the eight projects assigned in Blackboard, and
- e-mail a completed and published online portfolio* to adobe@utsa by the Monday after the final training session.
*If your portfolio is incomplete, ignores concepts covered during the course, includes the work created in the past, or content created by others, you will not qualify for the incentive. If you have a question about the quality of the project and want to know if it meets the guidelines of the course, it is your responsibility to contact the instructor.
Incentives/Certifications upon Completion
Upon completion of all requirements, participants will receive an Academic Innovation Adobe Pack to include a tablet.*
*Only one AI tablet permitted per participant. An alternative item will be selected as needed.
