Learning in Community
Bringing the World Within Reach
If you really want to see the world, you have to see it for yourself. UTSA students step outside their comfort zones every day. Our students bring their rich backgrounds to our shared community because they know that the exchange of diverse experiences brings our world closer together. They find a passion for making a positive difference through community-engaged learning like study away, volunteer opportunities, internships and special projects with non-profits and public-service agencies.

A Global Experience
Study Away is a game changer. It’s an exhilarating challenge of academic and cultural immersion. By studying away, UTSA students experience new perspectives, learn how to navigate different cultures, work with diverse peers, and communicate in other languages. Whether students study in the U.S., Germany, Mexico, Japan or one of the many other locations available, the experience expands their networks and offers career opportunities. Standing at the precipice of discovery, our students develop a global mindset and a commitment to ethical global impact.

Addressing Social Issues and Community Needs
UTSA students are immersed in the San Antonio community. Community engagement is a part of what it means to be a Roadrunner. UTSA students develop into active community leaders ready to address social issues and community needs through robust service opportunities to explore social justice and engagement beyond the classroom. They embrace diversity and recognize the beauty in our similarities and differences. It is the key to who students will become and what they do next.

Progress through Partnerships
Relationships and collaborations build a stronger community and drive opportunity for San Antonio. UTSA students play an important role in that work. Alliances with community partners, like the UTSA Westside Community Partnerships Initiative, facilitate opportunities for student-driven solutions to real-world challenges. Students engage in meaningful projects that give them marketable experience while benefiting the community. Partners tap into UTSA talent and energy to fuel community growth for a brighter more inclusive tomorrow.
