Scholarships
The Najim Center for Innovation & Career Advancement and the University Career Center provide an Experiential Learning scholarship for qualified UTSA students who participate in-person or virtual experiences each academic year.
We recognize the value of experiential learning and understand that some personal costs are incurred, even in paid opportunities. It is our desire to address these barriers and support students in exploring interests, developing insight into various career fields, and building their skill set through experiential learning.
The scholarship is open from January to March each academic year for students to apply. Student Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a student currently enrolled in a degree program at The University of Texas at San Antonio
- Must be in good academic standing with The University of Texas at San Antonio
- Must secure an experience (internship, research, industry project, study abroad, leadership, or other career related experience) prior to applying
- Have not previously received this scholarship
Experiences must meet the following criteria:
- Experience must be completed sometime during the current academic year (Sept- Aug)
- Experience must be 20 hours per week or full-time equivalent
- Experience duration must be a minimum of 5 weeks
- Experience location may be international, domestic, or virtual
- Experience may be paid or unpaid
- Experience may be for credit or not-for-credit

- Financial support for participation in experiential learning
- Help with costs such as travel to and from site destinations, housing/accommodations, living expenses, tuition fees for coursework, and/or having an unpaid experience
- Presentation experience at the Roadrunner Experience Showcase
- Internship spotlight and website feature
Applications for the 2024-2025 Scholarship have closed. They will open again January 2026.
