Lisa Blazer accepts new position
Lisa G. Blazer, UTSA senior associate vice provost for academic innovation, has accepted a position at Texas A&M University as associate vice president for enrollment services in the Division of Enrollment and Academic Services, effective July 1, 2020.
Blazer has worked at UTSA since 2001 with progressive responsibility in areas including student affairs, financial aid, career center, admissions and enrollment services. In her current role, she has worked as a liaison between the university and the San Antonio business community to facilitate the development of programs to meet workforce needs, including leading the San Antonio Workforce Initiative. Most recently, she has been instrumental in shaping the Career in Focus initiative to support furloughed and unemployment workers due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to joining Academic Innovation in 2019, she served as interim vice president for strategic enrollment.
Blazer earned her bachelor's degree in piano performance from Missouri Baptist University. She received her master's degree in organizational development and her doctoral degree in education with a focus on organizational leadership, both from the University of the Incarnate Word.
In her new role at Texas A&M, Blazer will oversee and support the Office of Admissions, Scholarships and Financial Aid, International Student Services, the Visitor Center, the Career Center, and the Office of the Registrar.
“I congratulate Lisa on this new opportunity and thank her for her years of dedicated service and leadership at UTSA,” said Interim Vice Provost for Academic Innovation Melissa Vito. “Her work has been critical in advancing UTSA’s commitment to support the economic growth of San Antonio, which has become even more important to our community and university in light of the pandemic.”
Vito will appoint an interim leader at a later date.
