UTSA's student population, which includes many first-generation and transfer students, is unique among American universities. The First-Gen & Transfer Student Center (FGTSC) helps these students make the most out of their undergraduate experience through mentorship, student success activities and community building.

Promoting UTSA’s Hispanic-Serving mission, the center plays a special role in uplifting and supporting our Hispanic/Latino students and other historically underrepresented populations.

On the center's impact, our students say it best:
I have achieved success through [FGTSC] by breaking out of my shell and doing the things I am passionate about. I have found a sense of community and a solid foundation for student support.
*Underrepresented minority (URM) students are those who identify race/ethnicity in one of the following groups: Hispanic, Black/African-American, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, or two or more races.
