UTSA celebrates instructional excellence in inaugural Celebrate Teaching Week

The UTSA Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars and partners hosted the university's inaugural Celebrate Teaching Week February 20-24. Throughout the week, faculty took part in events and activities at the university and college levels that honored them and the critical role teaching plays at a university.
Additionally, students and student organizations took to social media throughout the week to share their appreciation for their professors who make a difference in their lives. For inspiration, search #UTSACelebratesTeaching on Twittter, Facebook and Instagram to see all the activity from the week.
"Teaching is the foundation of all we do at UTSA. The instructional excellence by our faculty fosters excitement for the topic and the accompanying deep learning that provides the solid foundation of knowledge that enables our students to excel in their careers."
Our UTSA faculty strengthen the student experience through the countless ways in which they also connect with students as mentors and advisors. They demonstrate daily their dedication to education by inspiring, motivating and challenging our students."
Kimberly Andrews Espy , UTSA Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
A highlight of the week was the Teaching Showcase, where faculty were able to walk around and talk to 33 of their colleagues to learn about the active teaching/learning techniques that have worked for them.
Another highlight was the release of four inspirational videos about some of UTSA's top teachers. Check them out below.
Many thanks to the ADTS for their vision to host Celebrate Teaching Week and the Academic Affairs' divisions of Academic Innovation, Faculty Success and Student Success who joined forces with ADTS to support this week’s festivities.
