UTSA Academic Affairs announces Graduate School dean search
UTSA Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Heather Shipley today announced a search for vice provost for graduate and doctoral studies and dean of the UTSA Graduate School.
"The UTSA Graduate School plays a pivotal role in advancing student success and strengthening our research enterprise," said Shipley. "As we launch this search, we are looking for a leader who will continue to enhance the graduate student experience, expand opportunities for postdoctoral fellows, and support faculty in mentoring the next generation of scholars. With UTSA's upcoming integration with UT Health San Antonio, the next dean will also be instrumental in fostering collaboration and shaping the future of graduate and postdoctoral education across our expanding academic and research community."
The vice provost and dean will lead the Graduate School with a comprehensive, ambitious and dynamic vision that enhances its mission and impact. As a senior academic leader, this individual will provide strategic direction to elevate graduate education, support interdisciplinary program development and champion the intellectual and professional growth of students and postdoctoral scholars. The role also involves guiding policy and program development, managing the school’s human and financial resources, and advancing efforts in graduate recruitment, enrollment and student success.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of national trends in higher education and workforce development and work closely with faculty, staff and partners to develop innovative, data-informed programs that support student success and position UTSA as a model for graduate and postdoctoral education.
The UTSA Graduate School supports more than 4,500 graduate and postdoctoral students through career and professional development, skills building and training, funding opportunities and community building and networking. UTSA offers more than 100 doctoral, master’s and graduate certificate programs.
The university invites internal candidates to apply for the dean position. Applications should be submitted through the People Excellence careers portal. A UTSA login is required to access the application portal.
