In Memoriam: Victoria Tesillo

The University Career Center mourns the passing of dear colleague and friend, Vickie Tesillo, who passed away on April 26, 2025. Vickie was a cherished member of the UTSA community for 15 years.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Vickie Tesillo, a well-loved, long-time member of our team," said Regina Gomez, associate director of employer engagement and college relations. "Her warmth, sense of humor, and spirited personality brought a special energy to our team, and her presence made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of working with her. She will be greatly missed."

Vickie served on the Career Center’s Employer Engagement Team, which was nominated for the Team Spirit Award for this year’s University Excellence Awards. She poured her heart into her role, often going above and beyond to ensure students had timely access to quality internships and career opportunities. Her attention to detail and deep sense of responsibility made her a quiet force behind the scenes and a fierce advocate for student success.

"Vickie was deeply committed to helping Roadrunner students find meaningful career opportunities. The support she provided employer partners made a lasting impact and has helped shape countless futures for our Roadrunner community," said Mario Vela, assistant vice provost for career-engaged learning and executive director of the University Career Center. "She cared deeply about UTSA and believed in every student’s potential. Her passion for helping others, especially UTSA students, was evident in everything she did."

Vickie’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched—with every student she helped, every employer she guided, and every colleague she inspired. We join her family, friends, and the entire Roadrunner community in honoring her life, her service, and her enduring love for UTSA.
